Stoneybrooke Alumni Newsletter - Winter 2012

Dear Alumni,

It was so good to see many of you at our Legacy 30th Anniversary Banquet on November 3rd!  Miss Worel and I were overwhelmed by the response to our invitation to join us at the Marriott for that event. For those of you who were not in attendance, over 500 folks showed up to help us celebrate the schools’ and Miss Worel and my 30th anniversary as founders. That night was filled with many reminders of years gone by and the hundreds of students who have walked through the doors of Stoneybrooke. There were video endorsements from noted people and even a short, poignant message from Mrs. Kay Warren (Pastor Warren was to speak but became ill than night). Auction baskets rimmed the perimeter of the ball room as guests bid on some pretty fantastic items. A student/alumni choir and band of over 90 kids sang for the guests. But the highlight of the evening was the fund raising at the end of the evening: more than $320,000 was raised in about 25 minutes to assist the school in continuing its mission!  God blessed our socks off!!!  What an answer to prayer! We are still on “Cloud 9” praising God for His overwhelming blessings.

That brings us to our next subject…YOU!  We are desperately wanting to stay in touch with as many alumni as we can. This and subsequent newsletters are our best “shot” at letting you know where our alumni are and what they are doing. With each publication we will feature some of our alumni. Please make sure we have all of YOUR information up to date so we can share a little of your life (marital status, career, location, email address, etc) and be sure to let other alum know that we would love to include them in this newsletter.

• Chase Arnold is just beginning his doctoral studies at UC Berkley after finishing his master’s degree at Cambridge University in England

• Nathan Arnold is an adjunct professor at USC, is a project manager for Clarke Construction, is married and has four children

• Graham Arnold is employed by the Houston Restaurant chain and manages a restaurant in Santa Monica

• Todd Simmons is a medical doctor and works in a Kentucky hospital in the emergency room two weeks per month and then flies home for the other two weeks

• Adam and Cory Simmons are in business together in real estate

• Dennis Idowu is a gynecologist in Oakland, California

• Melody Talcott Wreesman is married, has one child and just moved to Southeast Asia to minister there with her husband

• Joy Talcott attends Biola University

• Daniel Talcott just finished his doctorate and is teaching at Kings College in New York

• David Talcott lives in the San Fernando Valley and is working for an accounting firm

• Bailey Gable May is the Children’s Director at Mariner’s Church in Mission Viejo

• Brittany Gable teaches high school English in Texas

• Daniel King works for Stanford University in their tech department

• Deanna King ___________________ just had her first child; her husband is an Air Force pilot stationed in Texas

• Darcy King is employed by Grace Community Church as the Children’s Director

• Lauren Pace is in her freshman year at the University of South Carolina majoring in public health

• Kimberly Wiggle is in her senior year at UCLA

• Tom Bennett is finishing up his doctorate at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena.  He is married to Erin Egertson. They have a baby girl and live in Mission Viejo

• Lara Paskey is working on her master’s degree at Condordia University

• Mark Martindale is in his sophomore year at UC Davis and is a member of their football team

• Matt Martindale is a junior at Harvard University  and plays on their football team

• Jennifer Lauthen lives in Colorado Springs and is teaching 6^th grade at The Classical Academy

• Adrienne Kuk Telman attended Taylor University where she met her husband to be and now lives in Castle Rock, Colorado

• Michael Moradshahi attends Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada working on his PhD and his wife, Erica Penkoff Moradshahi, is mom to a little boy, Jonathan.

• Bet Olson is married, has a little boy and lives in the Chicago area

•  Jessica Lansdale Somers has a little one in our Transitional Kindergarten and lives with her hubby in Ladera Ranch

• Alyssa Holladay Lassau was married this summer and works for Saddleback Church

• Ryan Holladay is pasturing a church in the east

• Megan Kang works in Mexico City for the United States government

• Braidee Foote is in her third year of veterinary school

• Darren Delin is married to Deena and ministers to junior highers at Saddleback Church

• Brent Wessburg works for Saddleback Church

• Brandon Carson is a CHP officer

• Dustin Carson is a fire fighter

• Ryan Carson works in the IT Department at Saddleback Church

• Jessica Haro is a nurse at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach

• Heather Kusunoki is a nurse in Huntington Beach and her sister, Courtney, is also studying to be a nurse

• David Thompson works as a fireman and his wife, Brooke Unrien, is a stay at home mom with their three children

• Karen Thompson teaches high school math in Irvine

• Mackensey Carter graduated from Georgetown University in Washington DC in June

• Elizabeth Riggins is also attending Georgetown University on a volleyball scholarship

• Kevin Bishow opened his own auto repair shop in Irvine: Top Gear Automotive

• Katey Ankeny is currently a Deputy District Attorney in Murrieta, CA

• Matt Ankeny graduated with an MA in Education and plans to teach in high school

• Jaime Petty Kampean is married with one little one and works as a sales rep for a drug company.

• Michelle Downing works as a legal secretary for a law firm in Mission Viejo

• Shelby Minzey Griston is married with three children and they live in Bend, Oregon

• Kari Minzey Odell has a little girl and she and her husband pastor a church in Bend, Oregon

• Robert Busan is a dentist in the Chicago area

• Daniel Grove practices veterinary medicine in Fallbrook, not far from Rawhide Ranch

• Andrew Lamming graduated from Stanford University got married and is now practicing law

• Gavin Lamming attends San Diego State

• Cameron Lamming graduated from Stanford and works for Disney in LA

• Jordan Bethke graduated from UC Berkley and is in Navy special forces training in Florida

• Brandon Bethke ran in the Olympic trials and lives in Michigan.

• Josh Child is married and has a son.  He and his wife reside in Arizona.

• Jason Child lives in Orange County and is pursuing a law enforcement career.

• Tyler and Karl Metz are currently working with their dad in the family plant and flower business in San Juan Capistrano

• Traci Matsuda is married and devoted to caring for her mom who is seriously ill.  She resides here in south Orange County

• Matt Richards is married, lives in Laguna Hills and works in a financial institution

• Chris Williams and his wife just welcomed their first child into the world.  Chris is managing a health care facility in LA

• Casey Williams is working in Irvine for a real estate development firm

• Clay Williams is married and working in the mid-west

• PJ Kerr is married and managing some Mr. Mom duties with his daughter while balancing a tutoring business. 

• Nicolette Grams continues to work with Emancipation Ministries in India

• Suzanna Grams is married and lives in Dana Point.  She works for a real investment company as an assest manager and coordinator

• Erin Nehre is now teaching high school math in a Christian School in Kenya

• Brooke Keyes is a senior at the University of Kentucky and is the captain of the girls’ soccer team

• Lindsey Keyes Keyser is married and lives in a suburb of Lexington, Kentucky.  She woks  in the PR/Marketing department for Alltech which focuses on animal health and nutrition.

• Boomer Beatty attends theUniversity of Colorado-Boulder.  He is at the Leeds Business School and majoring in Marketing and Management.

• Kassandra Schwartz lives in Aliso  Viejo and is a dental tech in San Juan Capistrano

• Cameron Thompson is studying auto fabrication at the Universal Technical Institute in Sacramento

• Connor Thompson is a junior at Cal State San Luis Obispo majoring in business and marketing

• Haley Litz attends Master’s College in the San Fernando Valley

• Alec Newman works with his father in his real estate office in San Juan Capistrano

• Evan Liewer is married to April and they have a baby boy.   They are just finishing up their two year missions assignment on the island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras.

• Karli Berkompas is attending Vanguard University in Costa Mesa.

• Amy Rutherford Reed is married, has two children and teaches school in south Orange County

• Alaina Eiman is a senior at Chapman University and lives in Mission Viejo

• Rebecca Foreman attends Texas Christian University in Fort Worth

• Ben Hester lives in Southern California and has a real estate development company

• Paul Hester is pursuing an acting career

• Eva Hester attends college in Connecticut

• Hayden Butler teaches history at Capistrano Valley Christian High School

• Alec Brower just completed boot camp and is in the Marine reserves.  He recently spoke in our junior high chapel

• Rachel Bennett is a civil engineer and has a son in Stoneybrooke’s second grade

• Michelle Nann Barker is married and has a child in Stoneybrooke’s preschool 4 year olds

• Amy Warren Hilliker is married to one of the pastors at Saddleback Church and they have three children…all of which attend Stoneybrooke
