Office & Administration

Jim Berkompas
Elementary Principal
Jim Berkompas graduated from Calvin College with a major in Physical Education, a minor in History and a teaching credential. He went on to get an MA in curriculum and instruction along with an administrative credential. After teaching in junior high for twenty years he came to Stoneybrooke in 2003 as an elementary principal.
Sherry Worel
Superintendent
Sherry Worel is one of the founders of Stoneybrooke Christian Schools and has joyfully served as its Superintendent since 1983. In addition to her school leadership responsibilities, Sherry teaches a weekly Bible study for Stoneybrooke moms and community friends. She has spoken internationally at many leadership and educational conferences, school sites and parenting workshops.
Lloyd Grim
Junior High Principal
After serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, Lloyd Grim graduated with a Liberal Studies degree from Point Loma Nazarene College. He went on to receive a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Vanguard University. He has been on staff at Stoneybrooke since 1996 serving in the junior high program as a teacher and as its Principal since 2006.
Kathryn O'Brien
Curriculum Director
Kathryn O'Brien received her bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara and elementary teaching credential from UC Irvine. She has experience as a classroom teacher in both public and private schools, and taught 3rd grade at Stoneybrooke before taking the position of Director of Curriculum & Instruction in 2012. Kathryn is also a published author of several children's books!
Kevin Garibaldi
IT Director
After receiving a Liberal Studies degree and music minor from Cal Poly, SLO, Kevin earned his elementary teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton. He has been on staff since 2002 implementing and maintaining technology throughout the offices and classrooms. He can often be found using his gifts in music and a/v for chapel programs, musicals and other events.
Mone Pace
Assistant to Miss Worel
Mone Pace received an AA in Liberal Studies from Saddleback College, and a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from UC Irvine. Prior to coming to Stoneybrooke Christian Schools, she worked as a paralegal for a law firm in Newport Beach. Mone has been on staff since June 2001 and greatly enjoys the opportunity to work at the school her children attended!
Cindy Conzaman
Admissions Coordinator
Cindy Conzaman began working for Stoneybrooke in 1998 as a teacher's assistant while her children were enrolled at the school. She later moved on to the position of Junior High Secretary and since 2010, she has been the Admissions Coordinator guiding new families through the enrollment process.
Shawn Werner
Development Coordinator
Shawn Werner has been on staff since 1998 and has held several positions over the years including teacher's assistant and bookkeeper. She currently serves as Development Coordinator where she facilitates the major fundraising events along with many of the smaller events on campus. Shawn is married and has two daughters that have their roots in Mrs. Grams KB Bears class, and are both Stoneybrooke graduates.
Cari Ulm
Controller
Cari Ulm worked for over 14 years in the accounting departments of several credit unions as well as a mortgage company before coming to Stoneybrooke in 1988. While she started as a part time bookkeeper, Cari has spent most of her career overseeing the school's Business Office and currently is the school's controller.
Lauren Johnson
Elementary Secretary
Lauren Johnson has worked in a supportive role for several large local businesses and churches including The Walt Disney Company, Mission Hospital and Saddleback Valley Community Church. While she spends her days making sure the school office is running at full speed, Lauren continues to be very active in children’s ministry at her church. She recharges her batteries by gardening and running.
Melanie Hershock
Junior High Secretary
Melanie Hershock started her work at Stoneybrooke first as a parent, volunteering to help out with various office tasks for the junior high. Her work proved to be invaluable and she formally came on staff and has been managing the Stoneybrooke junior high office since 2013.
Debra Barrett
Bookkeeper
Debra Barrett worked for over 15 years in the healthcare industry before transitioning to education in 2004. After working for another local Christian school, she came to Stoneybrooke in 2007. Debra's busy days are spent billing and receiving tuition, as well as purchasing supplies and curriculum. She and her husband enjoy spending their free time with their ten grandchildren.

Preschool

Jamie Brucker
Preschool Director / 4 Year Olds
Jamie Brucker began her teaching career in 2000 in preschool and TK. In addition, she has spent multiple years serving in leadership positions in children's ministry. She holds a California ECE Teaching Certificate and has been on the Stoneybrooke staff since 2010, when Stoneybrooke first opened it's preschool program. Jamie strives to support every child in reaching their potential and loves encouraging young families.
Sheri Currier
Preschool / 4 Year Olds
Sheri Currier received her BS in Early Childhood and has been working with young children since 1995. She has been part of Stoneybrooke's preschool staff since 2012 and truly enjoys her 4 year old classroom.
Irina Nilsen
Preschool / 3 Year Olds
Irina Nilsen graduated from Stoneybrooke in 2006 and has been a part of the Stoneybrooke staff since 2009, working as a teacher's assistant. She earned her Early Childhood Teaching Permit from Saddleback Community College in 2014 and began teaching the 3 year old preschool class in 2015.

Elementary

Darla Thompson
Transitional Kindergarten
Darla Thompson came to Stoneybrooke in 2005 in order to began the transitional kindergarten program. Her high-energy and exciting class is the launching pad for students, preparing them for Kindergarten. Darla has 3 children that have all have graduated from Stoneybrooke.
Re Grams
Kindergarten
After graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in French and Dance/Theater Arts, Re’ received her Elementary Education Credential. She taught all grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in Michigan, Texas and California in both public, private and homeschool settings, and began teaching at Stoneybrooke in 1994. Re’ has also directed and choreographed children’s musicals.
Kristina Mancilla
Kindergarten
Kristina Mancilla received her degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Development from California Baptist University in Riverside. Kristina has been on the Stoneybrooke staff since 2012 and has taught in a variety of contexts and has discovered a passion for teaching Kindergarten. Her love for early childhood development compliments the high academic rigor of the classroom. She aims to develop the whole child in partnership with the families.
Theresa Yurkovich
1st Grade
Theresa Yurkovich joined Stoneybrooke as a Junior Kindergarten teacher in 2011 and has been “sailing” with a first grade crew since 2012. She taught 1st and 2nd grade in public school and later worked on staff at Saddleback Church with the Children’s Ministry team. Theresa is passionate about teaching and loves watching her students grow in their knowledge of, love for, and commitment to Jesus.
Pamela Long
1st Grade
Pam Long graduated from Trinity College with her B.A. in Elementary Education. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. Pam has taught 1st grade at Stoneybrooke since 2001 and feels blessed to be part of the Stoneybrooke family.
Charlotte Hawkins
2nd Grade
Charlotte Hawkins has been part of the Stoneybrooke family since 2005. She has over 30 years of experience that includes elementary classroom teaching, administration, and as a resource specialist. Her education background includes a B.A. in Liberal Studies and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in special education.
Christina Perkins
2nd Grade
Christina Perkins received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies with a minor in Ethnic Studies from Cal State Fullerton. After a short career in banking, Christina went on to earn her elementary teaching credential from Chapman University and has been involved in the field of education ever since. While Christina has been a part of the Stoneybrooke family as a parent, volunteer, and substitute teacher for many years, in 2013 she was thrilled to become a full time classroom teacher.
Jill Winterhalter
3rd Grade
Jill Winterhalter taught for 7 years in the public school system before coming to Stoneybrooke in 2003. She began her career here by teaching Kindergarten before spending 6 years serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She was thrilled to return to the classroom in 2012 to teacher 3rd grade.
Kim Snyder
3rd Grade
Kim Snyder attended Cal State Fullerton, earning a degree in Child Development as well as an elementary teaching credential. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools. Kim began teaching preschool at Stoneybrooke in 2012 and moved to the elementary side in 2015 to teach 3rd grade. She feels blessed to part of such an amazing Christian school!
Jesse Pike
4th Grade
Jesse Pike earned his BA from Westmont College in 1994 and then went on to Concordia University to earn his elementary teaching credential. After working in real estate, he began his teaching career in 2000 and joined the Stoneybrooke staff in 2007. He went back to Concordia in 2014 to earn his MA in Educational Administration. His gifts lie in inspiring his students to excel through motivation, laughter, discipline, music and prayer.
Cara Heitmann
4th Grade
Cara Heitmann earned her Bachelors degree and teaching credential from the Cal State Fullerton. She began her career teaching elementary education in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. In 2008, Cara joined the Stoneybrooke family as a fourth grade teacher. She has a passion for teaching and guiding her students both academically and spiritually.
Karen Prete
5th Grade
Karen Prete graduated from Westmont College with a diversified major and later received her elementary teaching credential from UC Irvine. She especially loved spending her junior year of college studying abroad in Cannes and Paris, France. Karen taught 5th grade for ten years before coming to Stoneybrooke in 2012. She and her husband have two wonderful daughters, Lauren and Jessica, and attend Compass Bible Church, in Aliso Viejo.
Monica Grim
5th Grade
Monica Grim shows her love for children and their needs inside and outside the classroom. After spending 13 years as Children's Ministry Director at Coast Bible Church, Monica returned to Stoneybrooke to teach 5th grade. When not in the classroom, Monica can be found serving on her church's worship and children's ministry team, spending time with her husband and four children, or sharing her passion for helping the children of Haiti.
Tracy Cargill
6th Grade
After earning her BA in International Studies from Pepperdine University and pursuing a career in public relations, Tracy Cargill went back to school for her teaching credential and Masters Degree in Education from Pepperdine University. She has been teaching at Stoneybrooke Christian Schools since 2002, and she has a passion for teaching 6th graders! Tracy's joy outside of teaching is spending time with her husband, John, and two daughters, Isabella and Eden.
Doug Harrison
6th Grade
Doug Harrison earned his undergrad and elementary credential before earning his Masters in Primary Education from Azuza Pacific University. He has been on the Stoneybrooke staff since 2003. Doug can often be found using his gifts in musical worship, facilitating elementary Student Council and discipling former students. He is passionate about missions work in Haiti and has traveled there many times working with orphaned children.

Junior High

Sheri Saar
Junior High English
Sheri received her BA and California Teaching Credential at CSULB. She started her teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and later taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Linfield Christian School in Temecula. In October 2015, Sheri and her family moved to Orange County where she substitute taught for Stoneybrooke before joining the faculty.
Gretchen Jones
Junior High Math
Gretchen Jones earned her bachelor's degree from UC Irvine and an MA from CSUSB. She began teaching secondary mathematics in 1986 and in 2005 focused her attention on teaching junior high math in private Christian schools. Her purpose is to teach math for mastery, including Biblical insights along the way, and to build confidence and integrity in junior high students.
Roxanne Nilsen
Junior High Science
After attending Bible college at Pacific Christian (now Hope International University), Roxanne earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State Fullerton and graduate studies in education at University of San Diego. She has been teaching at Stoneybrooke since 1998. She also teaches swimming lessons and beginning Spanish within the community. Roxanne considers it a great blessing to be a part of the Stoneybrooke family.

Mary Carlan
Physical Education
Mary Carlan received a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from California Baptist University and followed that with a Single Subject Credential in Physical Education from Chapman University. She has been on staff with Stoneybrooke since 2013 teaching elementary and junior high physical education classes.
Cheryl Hilario
Student Success Program
Cheryl Hilario has worked in the field of education since 2000. She holds an elementary teaching credential and has taught a variety of grades, as well as working as a resource teacher. She received her Master's Degree and credential as a school psychologist. Cheryl has a deep passion for working with students who think and learn "out of the box". When not in the classroom she loves spending time traveling and exploring new places.
Debbie King
Librarian
Debbie King is responsible for maintaining the entire 12,000+ volume library at Stoneybrooke. This include managing circulation, patrons and inventory. The library is consistently organized and clean allowing students to find what they need very easily. Debbie humbly accomplishes this large task which makes the teacher's lives much easier!
Debbie Owens
Music Director
Debbie Owens has been Stoneybrooke's Music Director since 2005. She is an accomplished pianist and published songwriter who has lead worship countless times for schools, churches and other events. Debbie is responsible for teaching elementary music classes as well as directing elementary and junior high musicals.
Gary Shoup
Technology
Gary Shoup loves to inspire students and facilitate learning. Leveraging over a decade of classroom experience, a bachelors degree from UCI, and a masters from the University of San Francisco, he partners with first to sixth grade Stoneybrooke teachers to provide engaging and meaningful enrichment classes in Science and Technology, as well as advanced Math and Reading.

Claudia Cavaliere
Teacher's Assistant
Claudia grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 12, living in Pasadena, California. She is married and has two boys who attended Stoneybrooke from grades Kindergarten through 8th. Her love for the Lord and the school lead her to become a part of the staff in 2011.
Stacey Farr
Teacher's Assistant
Stacey received a Biblical Studies degree from Moody Bible Institute and subsequently worked in the Junior High Ministry at Saddleback Church for 7 years before coming to Stoneybrooke. Stacey is energetic and loves working with the younger students - especially first graders!
Elizabeth Harm
Teacher's Assistant
Elizabeth (Liz) is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and earned her Associates Degree in Sociology. In addition, she studied dietetics for two years and is very passionate about health and nutrition! Most importantly, she feels her calling and purpose is to help children feel loved, listened to and safe in their everyday environment.
Brandee Kent
Teacher's Assistant
Brandee serves the preschool daily keeping the little ones in order! She works tirelessly answering every question and attending to the needs of the youngest Stoneybrooke students! Brandee also works with the elementary teachers and supervises the playground.
Sonya Lett
Teacher's Assistant
Sonya Lett has been on staff with Stoneybrooke since 2003. She (and these are her words) LOVES WORKING WITH CHILDREN!! Sonya has worked in a variety of roles for the school for both primary and upper grades. She has one son, who attended Stoneybrooke from Kindergarten through 8th grade, ultimately moving on to Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, CA.
Logan Purgason
Teacher's Assistant
Logan attended Stoneybrooke as a student from 2000-2006 and later returned to run the childcare program for the W.E.L.L. bible study. She has worked with MOPS at her church as well as other children's ministries. Logan works in the preschool is very passionate about child development.
Debbie Smith
Teacher's Assistant
Debbie began working at Stoneybrooke in 2007, several years after enrolling her first child at the school. She has two daughters and a son that all graduated from Stoneybrooke. Debbie is the lead teacher's assistant, coordinating schedules and providing support to the administration.
Scarlett Smith
Teacher's Assistant
Scarlett earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from USC, an A.A. Professional Designation degree from FIDM in Los Angeles, and an Associate Teacher certificate in child development. She has been a teachers' assistant at Stoneybrooke since 2007, serving classes ranging from preschool through 6th grade. Scarlett is actively involved at her church playing the keyboard on the women's Bible study worship team and serving in the children's ministry.

Jana received her Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from Cal State Fullerton. She came on staff in 2006 and has worked primarily in the Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten classrooms.

Carolann received a Bachelor of Science degree and Teacher's Credential in Child Development and Education. She joined the staff in 2014 and works in a variety of grade levels. Prior to working at Stoneybrooke, she worked as the International Student Coordinator at JSerra Catholic High School.
